Didn't see any at HD or Lowes last I looked. Get most of my stuff from a place called Alcobra Metals. Great deals on remnants and full sheets/sticks...
My Lowes had it in 18ga 12"x24" sheets in the metal section. They are hard to find because they are in cardboard boxes so I had to dig around to find them. It was thin enough that I was able to bend it around a 2" pipe to shape it.
Look near the screen door section. It is sold as dog protectors for screen doors. That is where I found it a HD. Even with the help of a very inept employee it took a while to find. Yes, it is in a box. I bent it around a propane tank.
All you need is a little bit of want to lol. For really thick stuff you could heat it up with a torch or you could also wrap it around a tree with a couple hooks and pull it with your truck. Where there is a will, there is a way.
There is really no need for anything heavier than 18 gauge. But if you can get it for free that is another story. I wouldn't want a heavy basket if I were you Doug, with the bad back and all might kind of suck.
Agreed, I made my fire basket from home depot stuff and it has held up for several years.
