I've been smoking on a BBQ but its time to upgrade. I Dont have time for charcoal so what's everyone's thoughts on propane vs electric?

Welcome to the forum JP! It's really a matter of personal preference. I have a MES 30 (electric)and love it! Folks here have every kind of smoker you could imagine and love them. Take your time, do plenty of research(this is the best place to do that) and figure out what would work best for the amount and type of smoking you think you will be doing. Electrics are generally smaller and can only smoke at lower temps(under 275*), but need less attention once you get to know them. Propane will cook hotter and can be larger, but may need more attention to maintain consistant temp(from what I've heard, never had one). Happy smoker shopping, David.

Welcome, glad ya joined us ! I personally have an MES 30 that I've had for a short time & like it.... I also have a GMG pellet grill that I've had for bout 1 1\2 yr & love it !

I personally don't own or have any experience with propane smokers, so can't be of much help there !
