Hello everyone. My name is Peter or fishyfish (my poker name).

I am a Brit currently living in Barbados. I am planning on returning to the UK soon. No, I'm not crazy!! ( ok..maybe a little ). Myself and a friend ( a Chef ) are planning on starting a small food business in my local area back home.

Now i'm going to sound really crazy when I tell you I have no experience smoking ( meat that is) and less building a smoker. I have a fair bit of grilling experience under my belt but as I said no smoking.

I have visited the site a few times and done a fair bit of research but need to confirm a few things. I thought what better place to gain knowledge than from the wisest of smokers. I'm hoping flattery works!!

I wont post it here but I do have some questions.

Thankyou for letting me join the community. I look forward to hearing your suggestions on my next post.

 Thanks again,

 Peter ( fishyfish).

Welcome Peter from North Carolina. My wife is from South End on Sea and dreams of us moving there. I told her that the only way I'll do it is if we open a NC style BBQ joint. She laughs and says that Britts don't eat BBQ and we won't make a single quid.

Hello twistedhickory and RMMurray. Thank you for the warm welcome. Home for me in the UK is just south of Norwich. I have it on reasonably good authority that smoke houses are all the rage and they're making a killing. In Norwich at least. Just hoping to smoke some good meat and we will see what happens.

Hello from Texas.  I'm pretty new to the smoking world myself.  This website has helped me through the few projects I've done so far.  :)

Hello from the ( wet ) Midlands and Welcome to our addiction.  Many good folks here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have, and pictures help a bunch.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  Check out Jeff’s 5 day smoking E-Course ( link below ) that will help you get started.  Couple other good threads to help you get started included.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a cloudy and cool day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Hi Peter, welcome to the Family!

As Danny said, plenty of advice on here.

You information is correct, lots of "Smoke House" popping up all over. Heard some good reports, but some terrible reports.

Some pictures from one in Nottingham that my son went to on Saturday Night.
