Smoke Hollow PS4400 mods. Chip pan and propane needle valve

Yes, the cast iron pans work very well. I can use wood chunks as opposed to chips. Longer time in between fills. And not getting that overheated chip flareup. The needle valve has allowed me to pull the chamber down to 130 degrees so far. But, at that low of a flame, any wind will knock it out. Next is to fasten a skirt to the legs to shield the flames. And possibly a baffle inside near the lower vents. My inaugural cook was a success. I did chicken wings, boston butt, ribs, a whole turkey, and a huge brisket. Oh, and 3 fatties. I was able to adjust temperatures from 48 ambient in the early AM to almost 80 at noon. And I felt much safer than running the factory valve backwards towards off.
