Greetings all..

Just got my Masterbuilt XL Propane Smoker for my birthday, and I need some advice on proper seasoning..

I tried it this evening, but the chips I used kept flaring up. I saw in a previous post that someone put Lava Rocks in the chip pan.. I have quickly deduced that chips are not the way to go.. That being said, I couldn't get the temp up to 400•, and am wondering if I need to do it again. (It was 40 degrees here in Pittsburgh when I stated out tonight, BTW)

Also, is it worth to get the sausage hangers, the extra rack set, and the side shelves?

Thanks in advance, guys
