1 tsp active yeast ( 1 package)
1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 cup lukewarm water
4 1/2 cups flour
1 cup warm Milk
1 Tbsp baking powder
2 Tbsp vegetable shortening
24 3x3 pieces of wax paper
mix yeast and 1 Tbsp sugar in water let stand 10 minutes.
Sift flour into large bowl,slowly add yeast mixture,milk,
baking powder,sugar and vegetable shortening.Mix with
wooden spoon till ingredients are fully mixed.
Place dough onto a lightly floured board knead for 5 minutes.
Put in lightly oiled bowl,cover with damp cloth,let stand 2hrs
too double in size.
Punch down the dough,cover and let rise another 30 minutes till
double in size.
Turn dough out on lightly floured board roll into 2 inch log
24 inches long cut into 1 inch pieces,roll out to 5 inch circle,
fill with 1 Tbsp of your favorate filling.Place buns on waxed
paper fold side down,cover with dry towel let stand 30 minutes
to almost double in size,then steam for 10-15 minutes.
I only make half the batch and still put some in the freezer.
Make the dough form into a log.
Cut dough into 1 inch pieces
My filling is PP with some re fried beans.
Fill the dough with about 2 Tbsp..
Seal the edges by pinching pleats all the way around. That is a little tricky.
I used parchment paper liners in my Bambo Steamer
Filled and let them rise in there for 30min.
Steamed for 18 min.
Served with some Baked Beans with Pickled Tomato
