Hi guys
I have just build myself a new smoker and I'm trying to figure out how to build me a pig rotisserie that I can smoke 75 to 100 lb pug on. I want to build one with an electric motor of some kind but I don't really know what kind to use and was wondering if any of you pros on here could help a rookie like myself out if you knew where I could get some plans or ideas.

Thank You and God Bless
Jason Yates

I don't have any pictures but I built one out of 3' pipe using electric motor and a gearbox out of an old roto tiller using pullys and belts to reduce speed before gearbox I will look and see if I can find some pictures

This is one I built. It is 6' long and 4' deep. I built it with 6 shelves rotating on a 1" shaft and it turns 1 rpm. I got a gearmotor online from Graingers for a little over $200.00 which turns 7rpm and then I reduced the speed with sprockets and chain. I have thought about building a rack for it to enable me to do whole hogs, would be easy enough, then I could switch out the shelves for the hog rack when I want to do a hog.

Rubbin Butts:

I would love to see more pics of your smoker, inside etc... Have any you could share?

Jason,

Not trying to hijack your thread, thought you may also want additional pictures to reference for your future build.

loweyj,

Here are more photos as you requested.

This one is with 32 butts being smoked.

A good shot of the gearmotor.

The spider that suspends the shelves.
