my thermometer broken and in the middle of cooking how can I tell when done cooking my summer sausage

only thing I can think of for a quick fix.. would be to run to Walmart real quick (if possible).. and buy a cheap instant read.. better than nothing ...

the thing is I just put my kids to bed.so I cant leave my house should I bring it in to the stove   it been cooking for 6 hours at 170 on the smoker

YK How did you come out on this situation??

What you can do is re heat the summer sausage and take it to 160 IT or  place it in 180 degree water and take it to 160 IT. I recommend doing it in the smoker. Ive seen summer sausage not look right in the center when its put in hot water to finish

I will have have my wife help me with that when she gets home  and I will put them on hear. sorry new to this hole thing
