I'm looking for a post that I saw while I was looking for different insulating materials. Someone posted a pic of their horizontal drum-style smoker with a black insulating blanket on the outside. It worked well and looked good too. Now I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated...
where did that post disappear to ?

Hello. I did not see the post but from the description you are referring to an welding blanket. They are used for fire safety but because of their design could be used to insulate the type of smoker you describe. I could be wrong, but my best guess without seeing it. The problem is that it can't be left outside in all weathers for long periods of time. They will deteriorate. Would have to be put on the smoker at the start and then removed and stored afterward. Hope I got it right and hope this helps. Keep Smokin!
