Hi Guys!

I got here, but it's a bit of a round-about story as to how;

Last month I wanted a cartridge case dryer after SWMBO warned me about using the chef's plate on the range cooker, I shopped around and figured that

(1) They were a bit pricey for what they were.

and then a short time later

(2) That they wouldn't have manufactured something just for that.

With some creative "Googling" I discovered that most of them are just re-badged food desiccators with the price doubled, my "cartridge case dryer" duly arrived and within 24 hours I'd dried some cases, read the manual recipe section, and decided it will do double duty for drying cases and jerky.

I did some searches for jerky recipes and noted that some like to give it some time in a smoker, read on and continued to look for interesting recipes.

Last night at 02:00  I found this forum when it came up in a search for info on a PID temperature controller for my heat treatment furnace, this morning I've signed up as I'm interested in adding a small smoker to the huge array of back burner projects which litter my garage, workshop, attic and cellar :-)

Regards,

Nick

I'm a big fan of Big Swell IPA from your neck of the woods but San Diego is as close to the brewery as I've ever been.

Bizarrely I discovered Big Swell at a brewery I visited near Otley! ;-)

Hi Nick, welcome to our addiction!

Looked into doing some Drying, but never got started.

Plenty of good people on this site, that will answer any questions you can think of.

I have built a couple of PID temperature controllers to control Sous Vide Water Baths.

Just started today to build a PID Pit Controller, that operates a fan to feed air to Charcoal Basket. Looking at starting a thread once it's complete, but if you need any help with you build either PM me or put your question on this thread and hopefully I can answer them. If not somebody else will help.
