I spray the entire inside lid, cook box, grates all with cooking spray and heat it up nice and good. I'd say with the super pro I would probably throw a few chunks of hickory on top of the coals and let it go for a few hours. When I did my char griller pellet I left it go for 3 hours at the beginning.
