You can cut the pipe on the bottom end with a hack saw or a metal band saw. The upper end of the pipe has the crimp on it so it slips into the next. Ours is 6".

FWIW, the Four Dog Stoves are a favorite of some folks.

They were actually on my list, price is very fair but the shipping killed it for my budget.
I was looking at the Four Dog, after shipping it's $330.00 no pipe or accessories.
I'll contact the gentleman and ask if he can use my shipping account at work, my boss is pretty cool with that stuff.
Plus it's made in the USA, I don't mind paying more for that at all!
