I too am smoking my first Boston Butt today on my master built gas smoker.. I added a thermometer thru the back hole of the unit to make sure the front one was correct.. I added my chips I soaked over night to the bottom.. My question is was I supposed to put reynolds wrap in my dish before I added the chips.. They didn't seem to last that long this morning.. How often should I add chips to it

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a rainy and chilly day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

I see that everyone uses fruit woods for smoking meats.. I have used Apple/ cherry woods...
My question is can you use orange wood from Orange trees.. I'm in Florida and it's very abundant wood???

I'm thinking that would be very good
