Hello from NE Ohio

Thread Starter

Just wanted to say "Hi" from NE Ohio.  Just got my first smoker a few months ago but haven't been able to use it yet due to the extremely cold weather we have been having here.  I have a Masterbuilt 30" electric smoker and I am a total rookie.

I am interested in smoking brisket and pulled pork so I have been doing a ton of reading on here before making this intro post.  Thanks for reading.

Thanks.  I am trying to learn as much as I can before actually smoking my first brisket.  I have begun to assemble everything I think I need anyway.  Got an AMAZE-N pellet smoker tray and the CookinPellets Perfect Mix.  I have not bought an internal thermometer, although I've read about some recommendations for the Maverick Remote Thermometer.  Is a thermometer like this a necessity or more of a luxury?
