Soaking natural casings in the fridge?

Searched but could not find the specific answer to this question. If I plan to soak natural hog casings overnight, do I do it in the fridge? Otherwise how could I assure that it was cold water? Thanks!

Thanks for the link Dave. Pretty sure I read that one but he never actually mentions of the soaking was done in the fridge

I re read it....  no mention of refer.....   Anyway, to be redundant and cover all bases.....  all meat products need referring, even in salt, or in a cool dark place below 50 degrees.....   I'm guessing....

Good point.....   very glad you mentioned it.....  sometime we take stuff for granted...  which is not the right thing to do, but human....

I made changes to the thread to return the casings to the fridge...... If I'm changing water frequently during the day when I first get them i don't return them to the fridge. I use cold tap well water and leave them out on the counter soaking. Remember I'm changing the water every hr or so washing them...... I will return them to the fridge later on in the day when I stop changing the water. My well water stays pretty cold through out the year. To be on the safe side I recommend you keep the casings refrigerated during the process as the others said

Thanks so much! I will most likely be soaking them over night while I'm sleeping and when I'm at work. Is it ok if I am not always changing the water if I have them in the fridge?

I rinse mine very well running water thru them several times . They then go into a bowl of water to soak overnight ( or longer) I do not change the water . Havent had any problems
