I've been a member of the forum since 2012 but I don't suppose I've officially introduced myself.   Allow me to do so

My name is Scott - I'm 31 - I live in Dallas TX.

I've been smoking meat (Ribs/Brisket/Turkey/Chicken/Butts/Loins/Chops) since about 2001 when I got my 1st smoker for Christmas. I have a Char-Broil with an off set firebox. Participated in a few comps with one 'Peoples Choice' award.

I recently acquired a STX-International 3000 meat grinder and have been making fresh sausage.  I'm now looking to invest in either an electric (non Traeger - not a fan) or propane smoker to start making smoked sausages and other foods that require lower temps.

I have found a plethora of valuable information on these forums and truly look forward to Jeff's newsletters.  They never fail to inspire.

Looking forward to continual growth and learning from a lot of you seasoned pros.

Cheers!

Scott,

If you are looking for an electric pellet smoker/grill I currently own a Rec Tec and believe you can not go wrong with this unit.  Their service is second to none and they have a 6 year warranty.  There is what amounts to a deductible for this warranty so read about it.  If you purchase a Rec Tec you will be given a phone number that allows you to reach a company employee (often the owner) 24-7.  I am not aware of any other company that does this.

My 2 cents worth.

Hey Richard,

Thanks for the recommendation.  I ended up getting a MES 40" Gen1.  Mixed emotions on it.  Temp swings / lack of smoke.  I purchased an AMNPS but have difficulty keeping it lit in the chamber (smolders out in 10-15 mins).  I have had good luck cold smoking (MES off) with the AMNPS with the door ajar.  Growing pains I suppose.

Cheers!

Scott
