Hey everybody. My name is Jay. I live in Arkansas and just bought my first smoker. It's a masterbuilt 7-1. I've been grilling and cowboy cooking on open fires for years. Just never had a smoker. Right now at this very moment Ive got the first fire lit to season it. I bought a Boston Butt that I'm going to cook tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a beautiful sunny and cool day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Well I've already learned why manufacturers say to season a smoker. It's so you can learn how the smoker cooks! Need a different wood tray. This one has slots in it and I'm thinking its letting to much flame on the wood. Can't keep the wood from catching fire.
