Hi all!  I am from Waddell, AZ.  My husband bought me a smoker for Christmas 2013.  This has become a favorite toy, even with my lack of patience!  I have smoked, chicken, ribs and pulled pork over the past year (I found something that works and I stick to it!).  I really want to branch out and try new things (brisket is high on the list, but I am so intimidated by it!), but am always afraid of getting out of my comfort zone and screwing up something!  I have discovered that the more I cook/grill/smoke the more of a food snob we turn into.  Needless to say, we don't eat out too often anymore.  We find ourselves saying "this would have been better at home.  They should have done ....." and we leave disappointed.

My husband and I team up on the smoker.  I do all the prep work, rubs, brines, etc... and he helps me with keeping an eye on the smoker temp and water level in the basin.  He has way more patience than me so he will sit out there and tweak the temp knob a hair at a time until we can pretty much hold temp.  We have mastered fort building since buying the smoker (too much wind and the temp will dump quick and we cannot get it up again).  I would love to get a really nice pellet smoker, but that is so not in the budget right now so we will stick with our $300 gas one, food is fantastic just a little more work.

So, any and all suggestions are welcome, from the looks of it there are not a lot of women in here so I feel kind of out of place...but hey I love cooking, smoking, grilling and its hard to find a group of women who man the smoker and grill :) ...we have a "deal" in our house.  I do all the stuff before dishes and he does all the dishes...works great for me, I HATE dishes!

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a nice windy and cold day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Ok, so not the thing to look at while at work on a Thursday!  The pictures made my mouth water!  I love the plastic tub idea.  I get so tired of scrubbing my counters while prepping all the meat....I go through a TON of Lysol wipes!

Thanks for the links, I may be hitting up the store today or tomorrow after work!
