First successful trial run after seasoning it a bit. Also my first try at a fattie. The fattie and the ribs were awesome. I was able to get the temp up to 300 very easily but kept it about 200-225 consistently. I am very happy with the final result. Thanks for all the support and suggestions [emoji]128513[/emoji]

I'm looking to build a smoke house so I've been looking at a number of build on this site.  I really like this one.

I have a few questions.

Does the fire box need to be that far from the cooking chamber or did you do it that way so you had space for the wood?  It is a great looking design. Do you have any vents to help adjust the temp?  Lastly, did you need to have the cinder blocks 3 level high or could you have made it only 2 level and made the CC that much taller?  I need a lot of shelf space so when I build, I am going to try to design something with many shelves.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It really is a nice looking build.  How is it working for you?

Thanks for the kind words. It has worked well for me. The fire box is that far away so it's offset for a cooler smoke. I suppose it could be shorter but temps may get pretty high. I have had the temps as high as 300 but 200 seems to be the sweet spot with a fairly small fire. I don't have any additional vents just the chimney and the firebox door. I did have some venting issues when I first built it but sealing up the smoke chamber and making the stack higher fixed it. I don't see why it can't be made with 2 rows of block either. I had no plans and no experience building something like this but it was fun and I am glad I did it. I get lots of compliments for sure. Have fun with your build and keep us posted.
