Hello! I'm Jay, I'm a griller. I just got my very first smoker. It was on sale for 80$ figure I'd take a chance.

I got a Masterbuilt Sportsman Elite gas smoker.

I've started my first smoke today.
Pork sirloin roast, run and cherry wood.

Wish me luck!

Welcome to the forum.  The search bar at the top of the page is a great resource,  Have a question/problem just search it.  Watch your internal temps on your loin so it is not over cooked.  It is done at 145 IT.

things I've learned with my smoker. I need to get my chips further away from my fire. They flame up and burn and send the temp sky high. I need a thermometer that works. They one on my grill ain't even close.

But it was super good. I'd do it again.

Great, it takes a few times to get familiar with your smoker

That's one of the good things with smoking, even the learning stage yields some delicious results. I have had some not real fantastic smokes, but none that I didn't eat.
