Got a Traeger Select in November and have cooked a few things so far.  I've had a Big Green Egg for about 8 years, but have always been fascinated with the Traeger.

I had a group of friends coming over for the Buckeyes game against Alabama last night and decided to smoke a couple of briskets.

I used my iGrill Mini and it could not have been easier, and the brisket disappeared before the game even started.

It was absolutely delicious, great smoke ring and very tender.  I thought I was in trouble because the wind chill dropped to -6 the night before, so I should have compensated to keep the temperature right, but it was very forgiving and was done by game time.

Love my new Traeger!  Erik

Hey there Columbus guy myself. Newbie as well to smoking, just got a weber about two weeks ago.

Go bucks btw, what a game last night.

Anyway, if you are close I think the Polaris mall has a stand there that sells Treager smokers (I might be wrong) but if not may be a good spot to stop by and ask questions.

Erik,
Welcome, from southern Ohio, to the best forum on the internet if you are looking to learn how to BBQ/smoke/brine/cure/inject. Well you get the picture if you can do it to something you put on a plate to eat then someone here has probably done it then smoked it.

Use the search bar at the top of the page and you will be led to the answer to most every question you can think of. If you don't find the answer there then just post it and someone will chime in with their opinion on the subject.

Always remember the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!!
GO BUCKS!!
Keep Smokin!!!

I live just North of Polaris Mall and stopped by the Traeger display and talked to the guys there, very helpful.  I actually bought it at Costco across Gemini from Polaris when one of the factory reps had set up a display.

Learning the differences between my BGE and the gas grill, but the briskets I did recently really convinced me I'd made a good choice with the Traeger.

Thanks everyone for the welcome!  Erik
