been trying my hand at chips and smoke box ( or two lol) on the grill and the better half got me a small starter unit to get me working my way up eventually the bigger and better ones .

this is what i have for now http://www.charbroil.com/smokers-fryers/cb-american-gourmet-offset-smoker-300-series.html

and while i know it needs work and babysitting to keep it going i cant imagine it being harder than trying to keep my grill at a good temp with a smoke box in the corner and pliers propping open the top having to open it every 5-10 minutes for more wood chips and man what a mess it made of my grill lol

i have been a member for awhile stock piling all the email recipes and ideas from here so today i use if for the first time well i hope to lol i guess i should read up on staring it and running it for a test run to burn off the packing crap and i guess season it some as well before adding meat.

my first try in it will be a few basic seasoned skirt steaks and a bacon mushroom tenderloin all i have right now is a box of four different wood chips and i can imagine i will have to do some blending of them to have enough to get through the first cook. I do have some size pieces of cherry tree i had to trim a few years ago but i have not been a fan of the cherry chips in the past

i ran out of aluminum foil but rubbed and wrapped and back in the fridge for later so what im going to try first not sure if this is done right but its about trial and error right lol thanks and have a great day

wanna-be-smoker,
Welcome, from southern Ohio, to the best forum on the internet if you are looking to learn how to BBQ/smoke/brine/cure/inject. Well you get the picture if you can do it to something you put on a plate to eat then someone here has probably done it then smoked it.

Use the search bar at the top of the page and you will be led to the answer to most every question you can think of. If you don't find the answer there then just post it and someone will chime in with their opinion on the subject.

Always remember the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!!
Keep Smokin!!!
