Hi, I'm new to smoking but looking forward really learning the craft. I love to bbq year round rain , snow, 10 below doesn't stop me . I'm gonna smoke a 5 lb first cut prim rib for Xmas any pointers ? How much wood chips do I use ?

What type of smoker are you using?  A gas or electric?  Or are you planning to add wood chips onto charcoal?

I have a masterbuild electric smoker. I have a bag of cherry wood chips I was gonna try. Do I have to season the smoker or anything?
