So I have an UDS that I built this summer it works fine. It leaks a little and isn't very pretty but has done a good job on all the smokes i've done with it. One of my coworkers has offered me enough cash to get the Big Papa's kit to buy my current UDS. I have a thicker better quality barrel waiting in my garage for prepping and burning as I was gonna get a Big Papa kit to check it out anyways and have 2 smokers. I also have a sandblaster / powder coating place lined up when I'm ready. What do you think? Sell and replace with Big Papa barrel, keep two or Skip the BPS kit? I have a small family and the 1 UDS has been plenty big enough for us with 2 racks.

I would keep the one you have.

I dont need no fancy cooker.  She works good.

I am a Project Kinda Guy. Build another one, better than the last.

I did not use all of the Big Pappa Kit myself. I ordered individual parts.

Part of the build depends on the lid you have.

Flat Lid, No Bung Holes use the Big Pappa Exhaust, Lid Handle, and Lid Holder.

With 2" Bung I would go with a 2" stack, Big Pappa Lid Handle and Lid Holder.

I like making the Charcoal Basket using a Weber Grate, and expanded metal.  Never seen a Big Pappa basket, but it looks light weight in the pictures I have seen.  Not real impressed with the Ash Pan either.

I used the Big Pappa Shield, Handles, Bottle Opener, and Hook.

I like the Ball Valve Air Intake set up better for my uses.

If you do much reading about UDS Builds, and Cooking, you have no doubt seen improvements you can make to your old one.
