Frozen prime rib

A friend of mine gave me a prime rib that's been frozen for like 9'ish months. It's my understanding that when it's been frozen that long it will lose some flavor. Is there any way to help it out? Should I inject it maybe or will it be fine just smoking it?

Thaw in the refer ...... rub with your favorite seasonings and salt... smoke... I wouldn't inject if you like it rare.... Well done, go ahead and inject.... take it to 145....

It should be fine, though the colder it was stored the better it will be.

I second Dave's advice. Thaw slowly, season well then smoke as normal.

IF it was/is in cryo and was frozen correctly, it will be absolutely fine.  Smoke it at 225ish and pull at 127ish, wrap and rest for 30 mins.  Will be a nice mid rare.   If you want a crust on it, pull at 117 - 120 and roll it around on a very hot grill or pop it into a 500 degree oven for 8 mins or so for a reverse sear.

How was it stored in the freezer? I tend to assume that things are vac-packed these days - but if this want then it may not be so good. If vac packed then as I said before it should be fine. If it was just wrapped in plastic wrap or in a plastic bag that wasn't air tight then it is likely to have a degree of dessication (freezer burn). In that case it will probably be not so good.

If it does have some freezer burn,  defrost it then carefully trim off the freezer burnt areas.  Freezer burn itself is completely harmless, it just doesn't taste that good.
