First time smoking and I went with yard bird leg quarters. The missus wasn't sure about letting me buy a smoker for my Christmas present, so I decided to show her it was okay. I brined the chicken overnight and threw together some spices to rub today.
Hit it with mesquite at 250* for three and a half hours and 275* for half an hour. I was going to do 275 for the last two, but had to make a beer run that turned into an adventure.
I broiled on lo for 20 minutes to crisp up the skin, it was just about the best chicken I've ever had. The pic is prior to the broil because I was going to try and entice the brother in law to come over.
Anyway, the missus definitely approves of the purchase, regardless of how she feels about the nickname.
