Which gives most smoke?

I have a Traeger 124 and has very little smoke at 275 deg is they the same for all pellet smokers??

I have a GMG & at 275 it'll kick out some good smoke ! Just be aware that with pellet grills the lower the temp the more smoke you'll have as the pellets are burning slower.... The higher the temp the less smoke you'll have as the pellets are burning faster.....

I was using Traeger pellets. Are there better pellets for smoke??

First, check your owners info for the Traeger as I've heard if ya use any pellet other than theirs it'll void your warranty.... Now, I've never used their pellets but to my understanding they use pellets that have an oil added to them for the flavor, rather than a real wood pellet !

I've used different brands of pellets. Ya just have to see what's available in your area & price them out ! BBQ Delight & GMG are good pellets but they are kinda spendy here..... I have found Camp Chef pellets that are an awesome pellet with low ash & burn real efficient , plus they are cheaper here than the other brands by $5 a 20 lb. bag ! I can pick up a 20 lb. bag of Camp Chef pellets for $12.99 at Sportsman's Warehouse !

There's a thread on what's in traeger pellets. Basically, in the western US the base wood is alder with 30 % of whatever the flavor wood is; the two exceptions are mesquite and hickory which are 100 percent alder with some flavored wood oil mixed in (alder pellets are 100% alder).

In the East the base wood is oak...

Visible smoke is not necessary for flavor. If the smoke, thin as it may be, smells good, the meat is getting it's flavor added...JJ
