Greetings from Iowa. I am an University of Iowa alum, and life long Hawkeye fan. For pro sports I am all things Chicago: Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks. I was turned onto this site from my buddy from Massachusetts, who I continue to thank for delivering Theo Epstien to the Cubs. Yes, good things are about to start happening for the Cubs (says every Cubs fan). This is the year, right?
I've only been smoking for about six months, so still a n00b. For my birthday/father's day/anniversary gift I got a Rec Tec pellet smoker, and couldn't be happier. I know there a lot of smokers out there that frown at pellet smokers, but I have absolutely loved it. Plus, with a 3 year old and and a 6 month old I've got my hands full enough worrying about prepping, spritzing, wrapping etc. Throughout the Summer I smoked just about every weekend, tweaking different things here and there. My Summer rotation was the usual suspects, pork butt, pork sirloin, brisket, spare ribs and beer can chicken. These were always joined by a good Bell's IPA.
That's me in a nutshell. Bunker down, because I think we are all in for another terrible winter.
