Another Texan Cheking In

Thought it was time to join up and introduce myself. My name is Mike and I am in the  DFW area.

I have been cooking on a poorly built offset smoker for many years but I became familiar with it and made it work. I was 28 when I built it, which was 19 years ago. I had no idea what I was doing and my “design” was just from looking at other  builds.  It was too large for my needs and I got tired of fighting it, so it found a new home about 3 months ago and now it’s time for a new build.

This one will be just a small backyard size. I have a well casing that is 3/8”x 18”x34”.  I have ran the numbers through the calculators and had it designed in my head but after much reading here, I am questioning  this design. I had planned  to use tuning plates instead of RF, thought I had decided on a size for the FB but I’m kind of back where I started. A piece of well casing, some ¼” plate and various other pieces of steel .

I’m going back to reading and look forward to getting to know y’all.

Any input is welcome
