Smoked 80 lbs of BB today, gonna do 80 more tomorrow for a lunch we are doing at our church. I smoked them at 250/275 with a combination of hickory and mesquite wood. We have our own rub that we use, but I tried a couple different steps. I double wrapped and placed them in a cooler for a couple of hours. They are so amazingly moist and tender.

Looks good FB.   Everyone has a different way of doing butts.   I smoke mine to 160 and wrap to 200F.   I'm not a fan of the bark and its speeds up cook time to 10hrs.

Your going to have some smiling faces when they start eatin your awesome Q.

Wes, thanks for the kind words. To clarify a little bit I smoked to an internal temp of 190, then double wrapped and placed in the cooler for a while. I do have a a few positive reviews already. I smoked a total of 160 lbs because we sold more than what we anticipated, plus I took a gamble and sold some whole butts. I sold four 8lb butts, and I have someone on standby to purchase whatever we have left tomorrow, along with the sides!

Them there is some great lookin butts.

I dont foil mine during the cook either.

One Eyed Jack, I did use the smoker in my avatar. It is a BQ Grill made in NC. Smokes amazing, love that thing!

I hadn't heard of BQ grills but they are relatively close to me.  (Maybe 3 to 31/2 hours north and west.  Might have to take a field trip up that way someday.

I've seen some 80 lbs butts out and about before, usually near some fast food place.  Trust me, not that appealing!

Great job on smoking 160 lbs!!!  That would take me about a month in my 30" MES.
I believe I may have seen a few of those 80 pounders, myself.
