Hello from PA

Thread Starter

Hello Everyone, I'm Joe from Bucks County PA, right outside of Philadelphia. I got my first smoker (Masterbuilt 30" Electric Smoker) around March, and I absolutely love it. I work odd hours so I usually smoke something every other day. I love Brisket when I can find it, if not I do whole chickens, chicken thighs, and of course wings/legs. I started with Myron Mixon's book, but I hear good things about Jeff's book and recipes too. I had /real/ BBQ for the first time last year in NC and since then I've been hooked. Found a few local places that I love (Sweet Lucy's and FatJack's). I used to think BBQ was just throwing some burgers and dogs on a grill, man was I wrong. It's been a pretty awesome ride, no one around me has really had smoked meat but now they all crave it and a few of my buddies bought their own smokers because they were amazed how good it was after my first big cookout. I've been hooked on this now, almost becoming an obsession. Always looking up and trying out new rubs/glazes/injections. Can't wait to check this place out.

Welcome to the board! Yep, the smoke is habit-forming. Keep digging around in these forums because there's a lot to study. Every bit of experience you gain is a foundation for something new to try.
