help! need advice from pros to a rookie smoker

Thread Starter

Hey all,

I just bought a Bradley Smoker BTST02.(I got it very, very cheap)The guy did not want to attempt the repair.

The heating element apparently is shot. The cabinet is in great condition.

The smoke generator works fine. He also threw in a lot of briquettes.

My questions to you are:

Do I junk it?( nah)

Do I buy one element- where?

or two elements?

Are there any upgrades to do now with the cabinet apart?

Is there a better idea?

I am pretty sure after reading here the past couple days that a PID is really a necessity - true?

Please give me any ideas, send me drawings, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Remember I am new with this.

I am very handy, can build, weld, and modify most anything with a little instruction.

Thanks in advance to what I hope is a lot o fun to come.

Welcome, from southern Ohio, to the best forum on the internet if you are looking to learn how to BBQ/smoke/brine/cure/inject. Well you get the picture if you can do it to to something you put on a plate to eat then someone here has probably done it. Use the search bar at the top of the page and you will be led to the answer to most every question you can think of. If you don't find the answer there then just post it and someone will chime in with there opinion on the subject.
Probably better off asking those questions in the Bradley Smokers Group. You may have to join the group to post there but I am sure you will find the answers you seek! Here is a link to the group front page, look on the top right side to join:
