I searched and found most builders modify or build to suit their personal likes. My trailer is 4ft wide and the smoker is not centered on it. I off set it to leave room for a wood rack on the back side.

Well I bit the bullet and welded the exhaust stack in today using the newest set of #'s from post 29. Worse case, I end up cutting it off "if" for some reason I decide I don't like the height. Better than having to add to it later.
So I set the 6" ID stack in place and yes it looks too tall to me.
I have acquired a piece of pipe that is 8.625 ID and 9.125 OD and run the numbers per the calculator here on SMF and come up with 21.10". I think I like the shorter stack better, but maybe not that short. I figure a little longer can't hurt but that's a big a$$ hole in the top and on the end cap at that.
So what would be the worst case scenario if I went back to my original #'s on post 23, or maybe halfway between the #'s in post 29?
On to the finishing touches.
Been a month or so and I haven't made much progress until the last couple days. Got my handles for the vents on my firebox installed and moved on to a cap for the exhaust pipe. Finally today I managed to get my temp gauges and gauge guards installed. Still coming up with ideas for wood rack on the back side and possibly some propane burners on the front. Here are a few pics of the progress. May get a test burn this weekend.

I did a trial burn so I could play with the vents a little too see how much control I actually have. I built a pretty good size fire to begin so i would have a bed of coals to work with. Temps came up very quickly and I began to play a little.
Right side lower vent 1/4 open,
Left side lower vent 1/4 open,
Upper door vent not quite 1/2 open,
Top gauge is farthest from firebox and bottom is closest. By adding a piece of wood about every 45 minutes it held temps nicely with only a few degrees difference in the end of the CC.
Thin blue smoke. I have a few more things to do and then its off to the sandblaster.

Probably a silly question, but I cant help it.
Where will you stand?
It seems to be welded to the trailer frame, so I am figuring it stays on the trailer at all times even when in use. I can see easily enough taking a small set of stairs to slide against the front side of the trailer, but there is very little room on the left to stand if you did so on the top of the trailer.
Are you intending to stand on the ground? If so it would seem that the lower shelf level would be at about 4.5 to 5 foot range, is that not to high to easily work on?
Just being nosy, don't mind me. I love the looks and of course I try to envision myself using it, as one day, I would love to make it out of my backyard when smoking

Not yet, the wood I was burning was seasoned well and the temps outside were in the mid 80's at the time.

Yes I am intending to stand on the ground beside it. The pictures are myself standing next to the rear door where the tire is at. I am 5' 10" tall and around 225 and have no problem reaching the racks.

I plan to change the axle out at some point which will lower the smoker an inch or two. Also have some room up front to add a couple burners or a small grill at some point.

This is what I am planning to build except on a 16' or 18' trailer (undecided yet).
Love the guages and the door locks for holding the door open. I am still deciding on counterweights and saw the door locks?

Rust-Oleum[emoji]174[/emoji] Specialty High Heat. I sprayed without thinning. I applied 2 coats. It took about 2 1/2 quarts.

You answered my question perfectly, I was curious about the thinning. Did you use a HVLP gun, if so what PSI
I bought a cheap gravity feed HVLP gun from O'Reilly and it came with a gauge. I couldn't say what pressure I had it on, only that it was in the Green area on the gauge.
