im gary im in hickory tavern sc ive been smoking for years with a complete wood smoker I just bought a mes 40 electric trying it out I don't want to sound stupid here ive always have soaked chips or dampned sawdust before use is that the same procedure here with this chip shoot?

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...

No you don't need to soak the chips. They have to dry before they smoke.

If you are going to get more into smoking or long smokes. Do yourself a favor and take

A look at a AMNPS to go with your MES 40

AMNPS = A-MAZE-N Smoker. It's used for cold smoking.
