Good Morrning, Afternoon & Evening Depending on Where You are In The World

Hi I am based in the UK, where it rains about 9 months of the year if we are lucky.

Smoking food in the UK is just starting to take off, and is now becoming popular in the UK. with BBQ restaurants and pop up market stalls appearing throughout the country.

I have been smoking for a couple of years now, but the real Eureka moment was when we went on holiday (vacation to you good people across the pond) to America  and had a fantastic time where we visited a lot of BBQ restaurants and smokehouses. We experienced the fantastic selection of smoking woods that are available, not just wood chips that are sold in the UK, but in splits and chunks.

We decided that the UK was being short changes and decided that the UK should have a better selection of smoking woods, not just chips. but also chunks and splits and dust also.  We also decided we wanted to promote native UK Smoking woods so after a lot of research Smokewood Shack was born.

We sell mainly Alder, Apple, Beech, Cherry, Oak and a few other fruit trees,   The great thing about it, is that I get to chat with like minded people who have a great interest in something that I love to do, and really enjoy.  I am trying to promote the more unusual smoking woods in the UK, and give the wood away (not good for business so my accountant says) but I feel it helps to spread the word, and encourages people to try different flavours.

I am also into plank cooking, I just love the simplicity of it - it's awesome.

Anyway enough from me

Best Wishes

Smokewood

Hi Smokewood and welcome

There are a few of us hardened smokers on here from the UK and we had our first national meet this year. I understand that some from here already buy wood from you and based upon Danny's (KC5TPY) recommendation I will give you a try soon too. Please be aware though that unless you are a sponsor on the site then any overt advertising is frowned upon and any advertising posts may be removed by one of the moderators.

Do you smoke often yourself? If so what type of smoker do you have? Where in the UK are you based.

Wade

Hi Wade,

I am based in the Peak District, which is lovely.  I have a Brinkmann Special Edition which I love.  My wife thinks it looks like Stephenson's Rocket!!  I don't get to smoke as often as I would like, but manage to crank the brinkmann up a couple of times a month. I love cold smoking, and have made my own bigger version of the Pro Q, cold smoker, which smokes for 24 hours, which is fantastic.  I am also into plank cooking,  I am addicted to the fantastic flavour of cedar.

I have dropped Jeff a message to keep things above board

Regards
