Hey SMF,

I just found the forum and am looking forward to learning and sharing on the site. I'm pretty new to the smoking world, but I love it and won't ever leave. I got my first smoke three years ago. It's a master built (Sears) stand up propane box smoker. It hasn't done me wrong so far, but it's just not big enough to do full brisket, ribs etc. So I decided to start designing exactly what I wanted for a smoker and recently started construction. It's a substantial 36x24 main smoke box(electric) with two dampers on the back and a 4" stack on top. A side box with cooled transfer tube for cheese and a turkey fryer (propane) on the opposite side. I wanted an all in one BBQ unit and I wanted it big enough to accommodate my growing needs for a smoker, but not so big that I need to pull it around with my truck. I cut all the parts on a water CNC plasma table, so it doesn't look like a hack garage job. It's about half done, and I look forward to posting pictures when I'm finished.

Welcome to the forum Nate.

On this forum you will find smoking rookies after advice all the way through to the born-on-a-BBQ seasoned Old School all throwing around ideas and advice. Dont be afraid to ask any questions, no matter how basic they appear to be, and with your experience I think you will be able to contribute valuable advice to others too.

One thing we do like here are photos. It is great to see what other people are doing and how they are doing it. Although there may be a wrong way to smoke there is no single right way - and one of the great things about this forum is seeing how others go about things that you may have been doing yourself for years. It is amazing the little things that you pick up like that.

texas.gif  Good morning, and welcome to the forum, from a cool East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything

We all like seeing new builds, especially if they are different. Its nice to have or have access to a CNC but not all do, and I have seen some pretty nice smokers come come out of garages

I may have worded that to come off the wrong way. I build most everything in my garage and consider it one of my favorite places to be. It has nice straight accurate cuts from the CNC which I wouldn't be able to make freehand. The rest is being built and welded in the garage. No disrespect meant to anyone fellas.
