Yesterday we we decided to cook over the fire while we were doing yard work. I like the flavor of beef and pork cooked together so I made some comfort food.

I'm doing and all night smoke on a couple of butts. I robbed 1/2 a butt for the DO.

4 cups of water and 2 packs of Lipton beefy onion soup mix.

Its been raining everyday around here and the wood would not burn very well. It took a while but it did burn enough to keep the pot boiling for 5 hours.

Added carrots and potatoes and hour before we wanted to eat.

Here is how the meal looked before for gravy. The 4 cups of water cooked down to about 1/4 cup of concentrated goodness. My wife added water and flour to make enough gravy. She added low sodium beef base until the beef flavor was fully back and then a small amount of beef bullion to bring the salt level to where we like it.

Everything was cooked perfectly. Potatoes and carrots were just soft and not disintegrating.

Thanks for looking!
