Hello all. I had my first taste of bbq 14 years ago. I moved to Arkansas, and we ate at this little run down dive. We didn't know what to expect. they brought my sandwich out with coleslaw on it. I wasn't very happy, but i deiced to give it a chance. after 4 bites, i ordered a second sandwich to take home with me.  I have been hooked ever since. I have used charcoal grills to smoke, electric, and now i am using the pit boss wit ha smoke daddy attached. I work in the information services department of our local hospital. I love my job, but i am ready to follow my passion.  I want to open up a bbq joint. I have spent 5 years perfecting my rub, my sauce and my sides. everyone tells me I should go for it. I have been catering to groups of 10-30 people, and have never had one complaint. I am here to learn the ins and outs, as well as find out the recommendations for equipment and start up supplies. Thank you all, and i look forward to leaning from you guys and gals.

Welcome tomrip!  Glad you found SMF.  There are quite a few folks here that should be able to help out.  It's always the things beyond the love that drive business owners crazy like local ordinances, employee issues, supply chains, etc.  Its good to have a dream and sounds like you've got a good one.  Use the search feature to find what you need and be sure to ask questions.

Happy smok'n!

Hello and good morning from East Texas, welcome to the forum. Lots of great information and real good people here..  Double Congrats first on finding BBQ and perfecting your rub, sauce etc, and for getting ready to jump in with both feet. There are so many types of smoker to choose from. Visit as many BBQ joints as you can and take note of what they are using.  What part of Arkansas you in ?   One of my very favorite BBQ places is McClards in Hot Springs been there since 1928
