On Sunday, the 8/31, I smoked 3 rack of ribs on my gas grill. They ended up coming out pretty well, but all in all it was a PITA. Trouble getting smoke going, trouble controlling the temp., you name it, I had trouble with it. But in the end they tasted pretty darned good and everyone loved them. As you can see the rack on the top got a little over done but it still tasted good. I had 4 half racks total but took two out and had them wrapped in foil before I remember to get the camera out. You can see I had to prop the lid open with some foil to try to keep the temp. down. Anyways, here are pics of the process and results. No laughing! LOL

Greyfox , those turned out good , practice and you'll get them tuned in and find it easy .

take your time and . . .

Thanks guys. They did taste really great. And I did learn a lot. The two hardest thing with the grill were getting smoke going good and steady and keeping the temp down. I figure if I learn the hard way, which is how I've learned most things, when I do get a smoker I'll be a very happy camper.

The important thing is they tasted good.

The rest will come with experience, and a Smoker will be so much easier.

If you can pull off a nice smoke like this one on a gas grill, you are going to find it soooo much easier with a smoker.

Those look really good Grey, nice job!

What's that old saying? "Attitude is the difference between ordeal and adventure"?
Something like that. Anyway, it looks to me like you have the right attitude and ended up with some good looking grub. Yes a smoker can make things easier and the fun factor will just get better and better!

Thanks again everyone. Yes, even though it was a PITA it was a fun day. I think next will be a roast that's in the freezer, begging to be smoked!

Oh and last night I did some cheese. Didn't turn out half bad. Now to keep everyone away from it for a week or so.

Sorry, I forgot to take an after picture.
