Just a bit of an intro, sorry in advance if this ends up long.I am under taking a project which is what prompted me to join here. I've read here for a couple years on and off, I've had a brinkman home depot offset smoker that I gave away when I moved from Florida to Georgia last year. most recently I've been cooking in a small Brinkman cabinet and my neighbors offset. Well now his firebox rotted offhttp://s820.photobucket.com/user/dannypon/media/bbq/0831141418a_zpsaodso9br.jpg.html and the bottom rotted out of my cabinet.

With modest cookers I'm happy with the que I've put out.

What I guess I don't understand is the measurements. I'm not sure how many gallons the tank is. I measured inside end to end in the caps it's 5' 7.5" tip to tip. I used a string to measure around the inside and it's 6' which I think is radius but could be circumference, and is 52" weld to weld. I think I need a 2'x2'x2' firebox and a 6"x24" exhaust but I'm not sure. I really appreciate any input,I don't like to do things wrong.

I have to replace 8"x4' of the bottomhttp://s820.photobucket.com/user/dannypon/media/bbq/0831141419a_zpsdc8yp6gs.jpg.html
But after that the plan is to turn it and have the cc facing the rear with a reverse flow plate centered firebox and stack. Its my first welding since high school but I'm excited to get started,I just need an extension cord for the welder, I have an older miller thunderbolt and the only plug I can use is the stove so I should have that next week sometime, the whole thing will probobly take me a month or 2 but I can't wait to use this barn full of pecan I've been collectinghttp://s820.photobucket.com/user/dannypon/media/bbq/0831141420_zpsjuctupdu.jpg.html
