I have only used a offset smoker so my question is will it be big enough to cook for a big family

How big a family?

You can load between six to eight, 8-l0 lb pork butts in it.  Probably eight to ten racks of SLC spares if stacked vertically in a rib rack.  Two full packers.  If you need more than that, buy two!

R2D2 is a beast! I wish I had one. I feed my family of four, with leftovers, from my mini.

You should have no problem smoking enough for that sized family on a WSM 22.5.

Today I'm smoking two 16 lb turkeys for a party on one.

I have the wsm and it sure does hold a ton.

The thing does enough for me to always have leftovers and forced me to buy one of these. ..

Buying the 22.5" WSM will be the best smoking purchase that you'll make for a very long time! It will handle your workload (smokeload?) with ease.

I was in my local store that sells webers and talked to the lady there and she said that they are having their holiday sale starting 11/15. I'll be putting money aside until.
