The vault is like a machine. It will take a couple of cooks to dial it in, once dialed in, nothing better.

I have been thinking about getting a vault. Can you cook in the 225* range with it pretty easily? Do you snake the coals around the charcoal pan or do the "L" that is recommended by them? How long can you go at 250*?

The vault is  a very efficient piece of equipment. My cooking temp. Is 250- 275 range. To  get down to 225 you would have to add water. In my opinion the vault is made for the 250 -275 range.  I use Kingsford charcoal . I will use an up side down "u" for the charcoal placement., starting at the bottom left side around to the bottom right corner. I lay 4 across and 3 charcoals tall using the "U" shape. Most of my cooks their will be fuel left over. I also use a guru for air control.

I'm not perfect...I just like to share my ideas on the internet

So I sent an email to Pitmaker about 4 days ago and haven't had a response. Not a very good first impression on Customer Service. Did you have any problems with them?
