Looking to do a whole hog this Saturday but having trouble finding a place to get a 60 - 80 lb pig.
If anyone has any ideas or places, please pass them along.
Hey Hammer, just came across the thread. There are a few places in Eastern Market you can get pigs from or if you don't mind the short drive I'm sure Bernthal's in Frankenmuth will get you one - nice part with him is I believe most of his stuff is local. My last 2 Pork Butts have been from him and are the best I've had yet. Call ahead and he will cut you a fresh one and no silly liquid injections to add to the weight.
Hey Hammer, Have you tried looking on Craigslist quite often you can find feeder pigs there contact them and see if they might have roasting pigs. Also Marlette stockyard has auctions every Monday. Just bought a freezer pig for .90 cents per pound plus processing.
