Was referred to this website by a friend when I mentioned I wanted to learn more about smoking.  I'm fairly familiar with the basics, but I'm sure I have much to learn. I've mastered the filet and am ready to take the next step to smoking meat. Live in Birmingham, AL and graduated from the U of A. Roll Tide!

Hello from East Texas, and welcome to the forum, Great place to learn and share, and a bunch of good people.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm looking at purchasing my first smoker soon. I've looked through some of the forums on here and I think I've settled on the Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn, which you can get around $429.  I've noticed a ton of posts regarding smoker modifications.  I can't find a thread, however, that lays these out as far as what problems to look out for and what the solution to them is. As always any help is much appreciated.

Seasoning the new Ok Joe with my smoking buddy today. Got a few leakes in the doors I've got to fix, but overall I'm pretty happy. Been cooking hot around 450 for an hour, think ill tone it down and try to hold it at 220-230 from here on out.

One of my concerns, you'll notice in the picture that the firebox looks like it's sagging a little, however it doesn't leak hardly at all between the FB and the smoking chamber. Is that something I should be concerned about? I did not put it together (pre assembled) and did not think to check the tightness of the screws that attach it.
