What's going on everyone? Me and the lady just invested in a smoker (40inch Masterbuilt GS40) and cannot wait to get started. Not too sure how it's going to fit in our tiny south philly "yard" when we already have a grill a ton of tomato and herb plants, but i will make it work somehow.
Got the masterbuilt in from Amazon a day after I ordered it, but they sent me two front right legs, so I have to wait 3 to 5 days to get the left leg in from the mail. Little bummed but not going to let it get me down.
Ribs was the main reason why I got a smoker. I'm a big guy and have been losing weight for a while following the Paleo diet (nothing processed, no grain or dairy, essentially any and all meat and vegetables, with some nuts) So I get to eat all the meat I can handle, so the smoker seemed like a logical choice. I make pretty good ribs on the grill already, but I know there's nothing like ribs in the smoker, so I am excited to get started banging out some racks of ribs.
Even though ribs were the number 1 reason why I got the smoker, i'm pysched to cook anything and everything in it. I think i'm going to do my first smoke (if i ever get that damn leg) with Chicken Lollipops, sausage and chicken breast. I bought a few bags of pecan, apple and hickory chips and chunks so i'm excited to play with flavor combinations.
Sorry for nerding out, i'm just really anxious to get started smoking some meat!
I'm Mike, and I'm excited to learn as much as I can from all of you, I am as green as it gets, so any and all advice/tips etc are appreciated!
Just don't tell me i got a crappy smoker, that may break my heart, it's all we could really afford to put into a smoker and we didn't want to go super cheap!
