I'm here in Topeka, Kansas and have been smoking since 2006. I've gone through two propane vertical water smokers. I got frustrated trying to smoke in the cold and wind and bought a Masterbuilt electric smoker. It's insulated so I can smoke year-round!
I've been receiving the newsletters for a while plus using the rub and sauce recipes, but signed up for the forums today so I could ask a question. So much good information and advice here.
The best thing I've made recently is homemade bacon. It's really easy and so much better than store-bought. Tomorrow, I'll be smoking a brisket using Jeff's recipe.
In addition to Jeff Phillip's "Smoking Meat," I recommend "Smoke & Spice" by Cheryl and Bill Jamison. I've found both books to be excellent resources.
