Hello all,
My name is Jason Andrews. I live in San Diego, CA. I own an underwater services business that maintains and repairs boat hulls. I also am a flight instructor and teach at Miramar College in the Aviation dept. Recently purchased a smokin it #3 electric smoker. The fishing has been good in local waters, and I have been smoking tunas and yellowtail over the last month. I have also attempted quite a few racks of ribs, both beef and pork. A few pork shoulders have gone in the smoker as well. I am still learning the basics of the electric smoker, and joined this forum to learn from those with much more experience than me.

Thank you all for the information found in this forum. I have found myself browsing whenever I attempt a new cut of meat, or want to try something different. The information is invaluable.

I look forward to learning, and having some good eats.

I've been to San Diego. I went to school at NAS North Island. But, that was a long time ago. Anyway; welcome to the forum, and like I tell most new members, it's a lot of fun here if you participate.

Greetings from Hawaii!

I'm hoping to be visiting that area soon. My oldest daughter is going to school there (USD). She only was back for five weeks for the summer because she plays on the soccer team there and she had to go back for preseason camp. If you look up the team she is the only one from Hawaii! Her first game is tonight against #20 ranked Georgetown. They play USC on Sunday (I think) and defending national champs UCLA next week. I wish I was there!

Anywho, we love pics of smokes (Qview), recipes, techniques, etc... I'd love to hear what you do with your tuna smokes. I have an unlimited supply of tuna bellys I can smoke. I've been seeing a lot of tombos lately (what you call albacore) and there is always bigeyes and yellowfin year round here. Did I mention shibis and akus? When I buy fish for the fish market a lot of the time the fishermen will give me the smaller fish that they cant sell. That gets taken home and is dinner! I usually make poke with the tunas I get because it's so good!!!

I look forward to seeing your smokes and recipes!

:welcome1:
