Hello to my fellow statesmen,

I found this website while planning a home build of an old(1940's) propane gas fridge, and what an incredible amount of info is on here, I mean almost all of the ideas that ended up on my smoker were from here.

I will be smoking my first meal in it next weekend, and just wanted to share my info to any that are doing the same, and hopefully pick up some more from other members on what works for them.

I've been wandering were to post this, I suppose this is as good of a place as any. I was just wanting to say that I joined the Michigan members group and hope to learn some valuable lessons from the people whom I share a fine state with. I am in the Detroit Metro Airport area.

Welcome Litterbug! Until April I lived not too far from Detroit Metro, but we sold the house, packed saddlebags on the donkeys and headed north.

Frankenmuth is the bomb. It's the perfect little day trip from the Metro Detroit area if your looking for something to do on a random Sat. or Sun.

Did you get over to the Octoberfest celebration last Weekend?

Yes, the wife and I got married last Saturday and after a quick dinner had the reception at Oktoberfest! Had been together for a long time but the date kept getting put off....what a great way to celebrate. I went to high school here so we're enjoying being back in town. 

Always something to do here

Big congrats! So glad to hear you go to incorporate Oktobefest into your wedding celebration! We got married at the Bavarian inn lodge during the Bavarian Fest 2005. Great time!

Thats great, I volunteered at Bavarian Fest this year but I had the afternoon shift, was a little slow at the time. 

World Expo of Beer in the spring is another great one - and the Auto Fest in early September - my first year for that one, amazing how many cars and people they get in this town. On Friday night they shut down Main St from the north end and through downtown and have a huge block party then the cars return to Heritage Park. Something like 2000+ cars. I'm not sure I've ever seen that many people in this town.
