I am new to this forum so I would like to say hello and I look forward to learning and sharing information. This is my first build. I'm an experienced welder and pretty damn good at building just about anything.

I know that I want a 2x2x2 cooking chamber. I want to build a vertical reverse flow smoker with a water pan. I need some advice on firefox size and how to properly get the smoke into and out of the cooking chamber.

I've seen a few different designs and I would like to incorporate some of both. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to SMF. There is a guy doing just this type of smoker at the moment. I saw the post several days ago. You might check out the build section or message Dave Omak. He is the man when it comes to smoker fabrication.

Check out the UDS section under smoker builds, if you are going vertical, the draft and intake systems used on those will be really close to what you want to duplicate. You could go with a firebox, pipe for chimney, then enter the bottom of your CC and have the smoke hit a plate with 2" gap all the way around then a stack out the top. Most of what you see in this build section is offset reverse flow with side fire boxes.

Have at it... for the CC I would go with at least a 2x2x4 tall....
