Hi Everyone! I bought my first smoker last week to up my game for my gf's Rib and Chili contest in sept. I bought the Masterbuilt Sportsman Elite 30'' Black Analog Smoker. Being new to this and not wanting to spend a fortune I thought that this would be a good beginner smoker. I did get the Maverick Et-723 to go with it and have better control of temp.

I smoked my first Ribs this past weekend and EVERYONE loved them. Not bad for a first attempt. I did not foil them but I am going to try it both ways this weekend to see what I want to do.

This forum has been full of information and I look forward to being a contributor once I know what I am doing.

Hello and welcome to the forum, Great place to learn and share and a bunch of good people. Congrats on the smoker and the ribs. That is one thing about smoking there are no hard fast rules on how you should smoke anything. Over the years I have learned a couple of things, Smoke it, grill it or cook it the way you and your family like, and it Ain't the smoker its the person doing the smoking.
